New Changes to the MOrth Exam

Starting January 2020, the RCSEd is going to divide the MOrth exam into 2 main parts; Part A, which will represent the same written component that we are talking about in this course, and Part B. The Clinical Examination or “Part B” is going to include all the other 4 components of the old MOrth Exam.

This is a comparison between the old MOrth RCSEd exam structure and the new one:

Since the college has announced this separation of the written component from the rest of the exam components, they’ve announced that the “Part A” exam or the written part is going to be held in 28 locations concurrently in 2020. It is expected for this exam to move from a paper-based exam to a computer-based one, naturally. This would save our MOrth candidates some precious minutes, which can be spent revising their answers.

If the college is going to replace the paper-based exam with a computer-based exam keeping the exam duration and number of MCQs as they are, then it would save you considerable time (about 30 minutes). This could increase your chances of passing this long difficult exam.

Transferring answers to a separate answer sheet is prone to errors, especially with 5 choices (A, B, C, D & E). Choosing a check box next to an answer will save you some of the stress and anxiety (fear of making an error).

If you are planning to take the Part A examination, you should be aware of the new regulations with effect starting from January 2020. You can find these regulations on this RCSEd webpage.

For Part B regulations and forms, you can visit this webpage. It is recommended to read the new Guide to Candidates carefully and beware of the changes since the old guide.
