Assessment of the NEW Communication OSCE:

Candidates will be assessed on the content of the information as well as their empathy and ability to communicate clearly.

As per the RCSEd's NEW Guide to Candidate (May 2021), candidates will be marked on the following skill domains for the OSCE in Communication examination:

• Humanism – Engages on an emotional level – patient-centered

• Professionalism

• Communication – Explaining & Imparting

• Communication - listening

• Organisation

• Inspires confidence

In every case, there is a maximum of five marks available for each of the skill domains. Candidates must achieve an average score of 3 across all domains and cases to pass this section of the examination.
